Balfour Beatty lands Oldham schools contract

CONSTRUCTION giant Balfour Beatty has secured a £53m contract to build a new secondary school in Oldham.

Working with the town’s council it will construct a new Roman Catholic secondary school that will bring together Our Lady’s and St Augustine’s.

Under the terms of the deal the group will also refurbish North Chadderton school.

Chief executive, Ian Tyler, said: “We look forward to delivering these first-class learning environments for the pupils and their teachers while demonstrating our commitment to the local communities through an employment and skills pledge that will leave a lasting skills legacy.”

The main construction and refurbishment work will start early next year.
