NW Birthday Honours round-up

NORTH West business women Sue Hodgkiss, chair of William Hare the steel company and Marilyn Comrie, managing director of LeaderGen received awards in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Ms Hodgkiss, who now lives in Yorkshire, received a CBE for services to industry in the the North West, while Ms Comrie. who runs Trafford-based training and development company LeaderGen won a OBE for services to Women’s Enterprise.
Other well-known recipients were: Coun John Merry, leader of Salford City Council – OBE for services to local government; Joyce Redfearn, chief executive of Wigan Borough Council, OBE; Richard Thomas, the Wilmslow-based Information Commissioner, OBE.
Altrincham-based Linda Magee, biotechnology sector director at the North West Development Agency was also awarded an OBE for services to the biotechnology sector. James Morris from Chester, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales, received his OBE for services to the accountancy profession.
Recipients of the MBE award were: Preston-based chef and businessman Paul Heathcote; Dr Minh Le, a technical development manager at Warrington-based United Utilities; businessman Bill Docherty from Didsbury; and Fiona Gasper from Stretford, Manchester, executive producer of the Liverpool Culture Company.
