Expansys partners with T-Mobile to boost US SIM sales

ONLINE mobile retailer Expansys has announced a new agreement with telecoms giant T-Mobile to become a distributor of its SIM cards in the US.

T-Mobile is one of the largest mobile carriers in the US, and the deal will see Expansys becoming a partner for the firm, wholesaling T-Mobile SIM cards and prepay handsets online.

Expansys said the cards would be sold through its DSNS subsidiary, which is the market leading distributor of SIM cards in the UK.

It also said that the market for SIM-only deals was “significantly underdeveloped” in the US compared to Europe.

Expansys chief executive Anthony Catterson said: “This deal represents EXPANSYS’ first major push into the US SIM distribution opportunity where, unlike Europe, the pre-pay and SIM-only markets are nascent.

“The USA represents one of EXPANSYS’ most attractive growth opportunities for SIM distribution. The partnership with T-Mobile, one of only two nationwide GSM carriers, is an exciting step into that market.”

Bill Davis, a senior national account manager for T-Mobile USA said: “T-Mobile recognises the enormous potential for the pre-pay and SIM-only markets in the USA and requires partners who could bring relevant experience, management capability and logistical solutions to drive our proposition in this area.”
