Downton sets up base in Runcorn

DOWNTON Distribution has bought a 100,000 sq ft unit at the Premier Point Industrial Facility at Runcorn’s Whitehouse Industrial Estate from Pin Property Consultants.

The deal included modifications to the existing building to extend it and to add an external concrete yard of around 2.5 acres to provide a vehicle wash and fuel pumps. New offices space has also been incorporated into the building.

Downing Distribution will now use the site as its North West base to service existing clients such as INEOS and Shotton Paper.

Pin Property Consultants was advised on the sale by CBRE’s North West industrial team.

Director Jonathan Thorne said: “Downton started their search for a new facility in the North West last summer in order to have a centralised base for their growing operations in the region.

“The Premier Point facility as it stood had the potential to fulfill that provision but the completion of the sale was down to developer Cantt Pak’s asset management arm, Pin Property Consultancy, who have delivered a bespoke finished facility to suit all of Downton’s needs.

“It is also encouraging to see another large deal in the market, showing that demand is still strong and buildings are being taken if the fundamentals are right for occupiers.”

Davies Harrison acted as joint agent on the sale with CB Richard Ellis.
