SPX on track for job creation target

US manufacturing giant SPX said it remains on track to reach its target of creating 200 new jobs at its European shared service base at Towers Business PArk in Manchester.
The company, which makes a huge range of industrial equipment, said it has already taken on 113 people and would reach its target number by mid-2013.
Lisa Hooley, vice president of EMEA Shared Services for SPX, said: “We have been busy migrating in existing SPX Finance and HR functions, as well as integrating these functional departments from recent acquisitions.
“Our ability to find strong candidates in the area has been a significant factor in bringing in this work to the centre,” she added.
SPX also migrated acquisitions completed in 2010 into the centre, bringing additional positions to Manchester that were previously outsourced to India and Romania.
It now handles services such as human resources and finance for 22 of SPX’s seperate legal entities within Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), with more than 20 languages spoken by its employees.
Mary Sczudlo, Vice-President, Global Business Services at SPX said: “The Centre continues to play an important role in SPX’s future growth and expansion as a truly global company.
“We value the specific knowledge and collective expertise our employees here in Manchester bring to our business, which enables us to better serve our customers around the globe. We look forward to increasing our operations in the area.”
