Goal-line technology firm hopes to net investment boost

A SMALL North West company which has developed a goal-line technology product for football is hoping to net an investment boost.
Chorley based Goalminder is hoping its technology and business plan scores with investors at an event on Wednesday when they pitch for £2m in funding.
Goalminder will showcase in front of 70 investors at the event organised by Envestors, the private investor network, at Barclays Wealth, Manchester.
Goalminder has patented its unique goal line technology that positions cameras in the goal posts and cross bar.
Founders Harry Barnes and David Parden believe it is the perfect time to launch the product. Despite previous reluctance football’s world governing body FIFA commissioned a number of companies to showcase their respective innovations in a private testing session earlier in the year.
After this process Goalminder was approved to progress its technology.
Tom Wilkins, managing director at Envestors, said: “We are really excited to see Goalminder make its big pitch on October 12th and present North West investors with a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the future of football and goal line technology.
“Harry and David have the idea and the technology, and we have been working with the team to ensure that the business plan is in good shape to attract investment and funding.”
Gareth Griffiths from Goalminder said: “This is the moment we, as entrepreneurs and football fans, have been waiting for. An investment is key to the development of our technology that will ensure that heart-wrenching incidents, such as Frank Lampard’s disallowed goal in the 2010 World Cup, will never happen again.”
