Woolley returns with niche practice Eos

CORPORATE lawyer Simon Woolley, whose departure from DLA Piper’s Manchester office last autumn sent shockwaves through the legal market, is launching his own boutique firm.
Mr Woolley has formed EOS Law, and will begin trading later this year. He has taken an office at 82 King Street.
Mr Woolley, who spent 16 years with DLA Piper, and had latterly been the office managing partner, says he is “energised” by the opportunity to bring a new offering to the North West legal market.
EOS, which takes its name from the Greek goddess of the dawn, will now begin recruiting for staff sharing its founder’s vision and energy.
He said:”I am really excited and passionate about this new venture. EOS will occupy a space that many larger firms simply cannot, by nature of their size, structure and overheads.
“The advice we will provide will be partner-led and of the highest quality, adding real value and creativity.
“I have a very clear vision of how and where this firm will sit in the market. The next few months will be spent identifying dynamic, quality lawyers with the drive, talent and depth of understanding to provide truly commercial advice to successful, ambitious clients.”
He said: “I have known what I wanted to do for some time. It is about creating something over the next 20 years in an organic and pragmatic way. It’ll be very important to recruit the right type of person. I’m looking for high quality commercial people aligned to the way clients want their advice delivered.
The 43-year-old is understood to have turned down overtures from some of the major national firms to forge out on his own.
