Plant Impact’s BugOil set for US approval

LANCASHIRE company Plant Impact says its BugOil Product should have regulatory clearance in the US in the next two months.
The Preston-based crop technology specialist welcomed an announcement from the US Environmental Protection Agency that it intends to register tagetes oil – a primary component of BugOil- as a new active ingredient in the United States for use on all food crops.
BugOil is Plant Impact’s plant essential oil technology that is effective against economically impactful insect and mite species.
The product was initially submitted by the company to the EPA for registration in late 2009, and it has been under review since then.
Steve Adams, director of product development for Plant Impact said: “Today’s news from the EPA means we are in the final stages of our US registration effort, and that a US registration is very likely to be received by early April.
“We are delighted to see that our many years of effort on the BugOil EPA registration will deliver a registered product into the market.”
