Plans submitted for Altrincham hospital

DEVELOPER Citybranch has submitted a planning application to build the long-awaited £10m hospital planned for Altrincham.
Funding for the new hospital was approved last year when Trafford NHS Healthcare Trust chose the scheme put forward by Citybranch over a competior from Nikal Developments.
The new hospital will be built at Railway Street in the town centre by contractor Pochin’s. It will include out-patients department, minor injuries unit, diagnostics, physiotherapy, staff support and training facilities. The four-storey hospital will also be flanked by a five-storey office building, with shops at ground floor level.
Citybranch director Adam Gross said: “We have been working closely with Central Manchester Foundation Trust (CMFT) and Trafford Healthcare Trust to develop plans for the new hospital.
“This is an extremely significant development for Altrincham and having waited almost 40 years, we want to ensure that the hospital meets the needs of local residents.”
Trafford Council leader Matt Colledge said: “The hospital is a key part of the regeneration of Altrincham town centre and is a much-needed facility for the area. I am delighted that Citybranch have now been able to submit their plans formally for consideration by the planning department and subsequently the planning committee.”
