Hovell’s international teaching brief

SPORTS lawyer Mark Hovell is adding another string to his bow by sharing his knowledge with students studying an international course.
Mr Hovell, managing partner of Manchester law firm George Davies, and also a member of the Court of Arbitration of Sport, will be teaching on the LLM. Masters course in International and Comparative Sports Law.
The programme has been established by Madrid based Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE) and St John´s University in the US.
The course takes place in New York starting in August and has been designed for recent graduates with a first degree in law from a US or foreign law school.
Mr Hovell, who is an expert in football, will join a number of other leading sports law professionals teaching the course.
He said: “I’m really pleased to be asked by two prestigious universities to be a visiting professor on this Masters course. I have gained some valuable experiences, particularly through my involvement with CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) which I look forward to sharing with the students.
“This is the third year that I have lectured for ISDE and I have been impressed each year with the quality of the work their students produce. A number of their alumni now have positions at organisations such as FIFA, and UEFA.”
