BARCLAYS has appointed Jamie Mornington to its wealth and investment management division in Liverpool.
Mornington is returning to Liverpool after working in the City as an inter-dealer broker for ICAP on the commodities floor.
In his new role he will be responsible for advising high net worth clients.
He said: “It was always my intention to return to the North West when the right opportunity arose. Liverpool is on an upward curve and Barclays fully recognises this, with the team here in the city committed to helping local clients realise their wealth goals.”

NORTH West accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth has appointed Gemma Gower, pictured, to head its VAT department.
She will oversee the firm’s VAT operation across its offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Warrington and Widnes.
Gower has nine years VAT experience including roles at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as well as accountancy firms PKF and Deloitte.
She said: “I know I can make a difference to firms, by helping them to better understand the intricacies of UK VAT Law, and ensuring they have the right VAT procedures in place to fulfil their VAT obligations.”

CHRISTOPHER Causer has joined Manchester law firm Ward Hadaway as a Consultant in the firm’s commercial department.
Causer has 20 years’ experience advising on a wide variety of projects and regeneration schemes across the public and private sectors and he was head of projects at a London law firm for nine years.
He also advises on projects in the energy and regeneration sectors. He said: “The firm is already very well respected for the high quality of its work advising on projects that cut across the private and public sectors.
“Even in the current economic climate, there are still large and innovative projects going on and Ward Hadaway is well positioned to assist on some of the major schemes in the pipeline.”

MACDONALD Manchester Hotel & Spa has appointed Laura Musk as its new business development manager.
Musk will be responsible for maintaining and developing new and existing business, as well as exploring new commercial opportunities for the hotel.
She joins the city centre hotel from the Hilton Deansgate where she was the sales coordinator, responsible for proactive sales and securing new business.

LIVERPOOL health cash plan provider Medicash, has appointed two new business development managers to target new business across the North West, the Midlands and Yorkshire and the Humber.
Business development manager Peter Murphy will be responsible for generating new business for the company, targeting the intermediary market and selling in direct to companies across the North West.
Paul Johnson has been appointed to target the broker market and companies across the wider UK, with a focus on the Midlands and Yorkshire and the Humber.
Murphy joins from Bedford-based mutual, British Friendly Society, while Johnson was previously at Peterborough based independent medical insurer, General & Medical.
