VUE kits out 400 London cabs

TRAFFORD Park-based Vision Unique Equipment, known as VUE, has secured a significant deal to kit out 400 London mini-cabs with its CCTV technology.

Addison Lee, which describes itself as London’s largest mini-cab firm, placed the order in a bid to clamp down on fraudulent insurance claims.

The system records images even when the car engine is switched off and also stores GPS and speed information.

Glen Mullins, director and shareholder of VUE, said: “A false accusation on a driver can be very damaging and Addison Lee’s decision to install this technology across its fleet offers drivers protection from situations where it would otherwise be one person’s word against another.”

Mark Wilson, revenue protection manager for Addison Lee, said “While the camera system will be an invaluable part of any dispute, its true value is in serving as a deterrent. Crash-for-cash scammers who know we use this technology will steer clear of all our vehicles, leaving us to do what we do best – get our clients safely to their destinations on time, in comfort and without incident.”

The value of the deal was not disclosed.
