IT group Stack invests £1.7m in Cloud provision

LIVERPOOL-based business technology firm Stack Group says it is investing £1.7m in its cloud storage capacity.

The Aintree firm is upgrading its facilities amid surging demand from businesses outsourcing their IT storage and virtualised network services to save money. Its revenues are up 84% on 2012.

Chairman Jeff Orr said: “We have plenty of capacity for our current clients’ needs. But there is a definite trend toward businesses looking at their IT costs and recognising the opportunity to save money.

“By signing up to our services they have no capital expenditure on hardware, no need to employ IT specialists, their software is always up to date and they can also ensure it is well protected from threats.

“We have invested in growth because we believe that demand will only increase as businesses see the benefits of this approach and we want to be ready to meet that demand.”

Stack is investing in additional server racks which will house an extra 8,400 virtual servers. The new racks will be located in a secure space at Stack, with high security measures in place to prevent unauthorised access.

Mr Orr added: “By making this significant investment, we are giving businesses confidence that we can meet their capacity needs, not just right now, but as they grow.”
