SANTANDER Corporate & Commercial has appointed Damian McGann as managing director for the North.

McGann has been with the bank for four years and previously held the role of head of business sevelopment for Santander Corporate & Commercial in the UK.

He will lead a team based at 18 corporate business Centres, including centres in Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds. 

Santander said it has grown its lending to SMEs by an average of 20% a year over the last four years. In the North £890m of new lending was provided to local businesses in 2013, said the bank. During the same period the relationship banking team has tripled in size to more than 130 people and 11 new offices have been opened.

Marcelino Castrillo, managing director of SME Banking at Santander, said: “The North is a strategically important region for us and we want to increase our market share in 2014 and get even closer to local businesses. Damian’s experience and expertise will support our commitment to SMEs as we help their businesses grow and develop.”

THE Manchester office of law firm Mills & Reeve has appointed Jessica Mistry as a solicitor in its employment team.

She joins from the Liverpool office of Weightmans.

Sara Barrett, head of the employment team in Manchester, said: “Jessica’s previous sector experience makes her a great fit for the team and our clients.”

ONLINE estate agency, Tem-po.co.uk, has appointed former Apprentice finalist Neil Clough.

Clough has joined the firm, based at Freckleton near Blackpool, as a non-executive sales director.

His remit will be to expand tem-po.co.uk’s customer base and property portfolio across the North West and beyond.

The appointment follows the launch of Clough’s own business, NWC Consultancy, which provides sales consultancy, sales training, coaching and mentoring.

BURY-based law firm Clough & Willis has strengthened its private client team with the appointment of Sally Cook as its new head of department.

Cook, who joins from Fieldings Porter, will focus on wealth and succession planning, inheritance tax advice, trust creation and administration, wills, lasting powers of attorney and estate administration.

She said: “Clough & Willis has been a respected part of the North West legal community for many, many years so I’m excited to be part of it in the next phase of my career. Hopefully my experience will add real value to the firm and help further consolidate its name and reputation.”
