Appointments: Mr Loophole gets an agent, Beevers HR director, new role at Hill Dickinson and more…

SOLICITOR Nick Freeman has hired Manchester-headquartered Chase Management to handle his television, public appearance and public speaking requests.

Mr Freeman was nicknamed “Mr Loophole” by the media after securing a number of acquittals for show business and football celebrities facing motoring charges. He subsequently registered the nickname as a trademark.

Mr Freeman said: “This is a natural step as a consequence of the high-profile clients I’m constantly being requested to defend.”

BEEVER and Struthers has appointed Jo Rigby as HR director at its Manchester office.

She joins from General Electric, where she was HR director for equipment services.

Ms Rigby’s remit at the accountancy firm is to provide HR support and to ensure the firm complies with all relevant statutory regulations.

She will also assess training requirements for areas including performance management, coaching, mentoring and interview skills training.

JOHANNA Saunders has joined the Manchester office of national law firm Hill Dickinson in the newly created role of corporate knowledge management lawyer.

She moves from Addleshaw Goddard where she was a managing associate in the corporate group.

Ms Saunders’ role at Hill Dickinson will include collating information and expertise from across the firm for the benefit of clients.

Darryl Cooke, partner and head of corporate at Hill Dickinson, said:  “It is a sign of our aggressive growth plan that we have hired Johanna, and her arrival means our clients can have the maximum benefit from the firm’s collective expertise.”

MARK Voisey has been appointed as operations director at Bolton-based Knightsbridge Business Sales.

Mr Voisey was previously managing director of estate agency franchise Centre 21. Before that he was financial services director at national surveying group Countrywide as financial services director.

The company has recently added nine employees to its workforce and said its expects to create more new jobs throughout the North West.

MARTYN TORR, the business editor of the Oldham Evening Chronicle, is to host the 2008 North West PRide awards.

The awards, run by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, will take place at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel on November 19.

Mr Torr is a director of New Image PR in Oldham in addition to his role at the Oldham Evening Chronicle.

He said: “I realise that I’m following in the footsteps of some celebrity hosts but hope I can bring a sense of humour and achievement to what is sure to be another celebration of excellence here in the North West.”
