Cowgill leaves MBL Group

PETER Cowgill has left the board of MBL Group after a boardroom fall-out.

In a brief statement the Leyland group said Mr Cowgill, chairman at retailer JD Sports, had resigned as non-executive chairman.

This was after, “a disagreement with the rest of the board on the future strategy of the company”.

He will be replaced by David Johnson, who joined the board in May 2014.

The firm previously distributed CDs and DVDs to large retailers but has been trying to rebuild itself as a direct-to-consumer business less focused on the home entertainment market.

Chief executive Trevor Allan said: “I would like to thank Peter for his hard work and dedication and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
