Legal News: Pannone Corporate; Addleshaws & more

MANCHESTER firm Pannone Corporate has taken on seven more staff to support its IT, finance, HR and compliance teams as it prepares to move to The Chapel at 380 Deansgate.

Last month, the firm revealed it had signed a 10-year lease at the historic chapel which was once owned by pop maestro Pete Waterman. The move is scheduled to take place early in the New Year, around the time of its first anniversary.

As well as the new hires, there has been a six-figure investment in IT systems and the firm recently signed a deal with North West cloud computing provider, Converge TS.

Managing Partner Paul Jonson said: “In preparation for our office move, we have significantly enhanced our back office function and invested in leading IT systems all of which are designed to help provide an exemplary service to our clients.

“Client service is at the core of what we do. In order to achieve high levels of service it is essential that we invest in the latest technology and use it to the benefit of our teams. These are exciting times at the firm as we prepare for the move to The Chapel.”

TWO lawyers, Lesley Gill and Charlotte Shaughnessy, from Altrincham  law firm MLP Law have achieved the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) qualification.

Stephen Attree, managing director of MLP Law, said: “We are extremely proud of everyone on the team for completing the qualification. They have all shown their commitment to improving their knowledge and expertise so they are able to provide sound advice on issues surrounding trusts and estates.

“It’s unusual for a small law firm to have a team that is exclusively made up of STEP-accredited practitioners but we wanted every member of our wills, trusts and probate department to gain this qualification so that we could provide the best possible specialist advice to our clients.”

FLETCHERS Solicitors, the clinical negligence and serious injury specialist,  has donated the contents of its library to Edge Hill University.

The Southport firm, has handed over more than 600 books to the Liverpool university, many of them textbooks that students can use to learn about significant legal cases and refer back to in their academic projects.

The books were donated by the firm as part of its drive to establish a paperless office, which will help to reduce the law firm’s impact on the environment.
