CPOs on the rise as regen projects soar

THE North West has emerged as a hot spot for planning compulsory purchase orders, according to research.
CPOs submissions have increased 61% from 2014, with the Lancashire town of Burnley receiving 14 which is 21% of the overall total, law firm Bond Dickinson said.
According to the research 95% of applications achieve the objective of acquiring land for the applicant.
The increased demand for CPOs is a powerful indicator that economic confidence is improving as they are often representative of a commitment towards a major development scheme.
Apart from the North West, other hotspots include the Midlands and London.
