Appointments: Bilfinger GVA; Napthens; Lloyds Bank & more

BILFINGER GVA Manchester has strengthened its building team with the appointment of Oliver Shore as building surveyor.
With five years’ experience in the property industry, second-year graduate Shore joins the firm’s growing Manchester-based department in a role that will see him add valuable resource to cater for an increasing workload on a wide range of both public and private[-sector appointments.
Shore, who previously worked for A1 Housing and SDA Consulting LLP, acted as part of a lead consultancy team and as an administrator using various JCT contracts, working on a range of education-sector projects including the University of Manchester, the University of Lancaster and The Barlow RC High School in Didsbury.
On his appointment, Shore said: “I am thrilled to be joining Bilfinger GVA’s Building team. The firm has a diverse range of clients with an excellent reputation across the country, especially in the North West. I am looking forward to getting involved in a whole range of projects.”

NAPTHENS solicitors, based in Preston, has launched a dedicated HR service, appointing two HR specialist staff as a result.
The service, known as HR3 OnSite, will provide on-site support for businesses with Napthens’ staff attending internal meetings and offering advice designed to alleviate the strain from busy management teams.
The service has seen the appointment of two HR professionals, Nicola Mason and Katie Waddington, who both take up the role of HR consultants at Napthens – the first time the law firm has offered such a service.
Waddington specialises in advising on an array of issues including complex employee relation matters, talent management, and employee engagement. She joins Napthens after working in the IT, retail and hospitality sectors.
Mason, who has previously worked in the motor industry, recruitment, and professional services sectors, joins Katie to advise on a wide range of HR issues. Her background includes completing a complex TUPE arrangement across seven European countries from a major business in the oil and gas sector.

PAUL Smith has become Lloyds Bank’s new head of Trade Finance after a spell as director for Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking in the North West.
Smith, who will be based at Coventry, has worked for Lloyds for more than 31 years, and will lead a team of 18 international business managers across the UK supporting businesses with an annual turnover up to £25m.

FORBES Solicitors which has offices in Manchester, Blackburn and Preston has appointed a partner and five associates.
Craig Liversidge from the Crown Court Department in Preston has been promoted to Partner.
Craig MacKenzie from the Crime Department at Chorley, Justine Hunkins and Sam Gorrell from Housing Litigation at Preston, and Sarah Wilkinson and Sarah Davisworth from the Insurance Departments in Blackburn and Leeds respectively, have been promoted to associate.
