Hat-trick of approvals for £160m regeneration plans

THE planning team at De Pol Associates has enjoyed a flying start to June with approval for three major developments across the North of England worth more than £160m.
The first week of the month has seen the Lancashire-based consultancy successfully steer an £80m mixed use regeneration scheme at the former Cottam Brickworks site in Preston through the planning process.
Preston’s planning committee unanimously approved plans for a new district centre off Tom Benson Way, which will provide a range of retail, leisure and health facilities for local residents.
Following that, planning permission has also been obtained from planners in the North East for an £80m residential project in North Shields for up to 400 houses on a 14-hectare semi-derelict industrial site.
Councillors agreed with De Pol’s submission that the major regeneration scheme, proposed by developer Northern Trust, would also help address the council’s housing shortage in a sustainable manner.
De Pol Associates has also been successful in an application with Wyre Borough Council in Lancashire to build new headquarters for applicant, Keyworker Homes (NW).
The local company wants to create more than 4,300sq ft of prime office space for its new home on a site on Mains Lane on the edge of Poulton-le-Fylde.
Despite the site being located within Flood Zone 3, De Pol was able to demonstrate that there were no preferable sites which could accommodate the proposals.
Marco De Pol, managing director of De Pol Associates, said: “It has been a busy, but very successful start to the summer for our team and we’re delighted to see this trio of applications pass successfully through the planning process.
“They are all quite different plans but they will bring jobs, homes and much needed regeneration to their areas and we are pleased that the planning authorities saw the great merit in all three projects.”
The planning successes come as De Pol Associates welcomes another member to its expanding team as it celebrates 30 years of providing advice on all aspects of planning and development in 2015.
