Jobs saved as Camelot hotel is sold

THE hotel on the site of the Camelot theme park in Lancashire, has been bought out of insolvency in a deal that will save nearly 80 jobs.
The 140-bedroom Park Hall Hotel, based at Charnock Richard near Chorley, has been rescued by Lakeside Collection, which trades as Lavender Hotels Group.
Discussions are still ongoing regarding the future of the adjacent Camelot Theme Park, which was also placed in receivership in February.
Receivers Grant Thornton are in exclusive talks with a potential buyer for the land and theme park assets.
Receiver Les Ross said: “The sale means that the business can continue going forward. This is great news for the employees whose jobs have been saved at the hotel, as well as customers who had bookings for the summer.
“We will now be focusing on getting the best deal possible for the theme park and remaining land.”
Lavender Hotels have been operating since 1979 and the purchase of Park Hall Hotel brings the group to six hotels and four leisure clubs across the North West.
Stefan Sikorski, managing director of Lavender Hotels Group said: “ Park Hall Hotel fits perfectly into our group’s portfolio and we are delighted to complete the purchase.
“From our initial discussions with the receivers it quickly became clear that Park Hall Hotel had similar facilities and strategies to our existing hotels and leisure clubs and we look forward to building on the hotels already outstanding reputation”
The Lavender Hotels Group portfolio includes The Bolholt Country Park Hotel in Bury, The Old Mill in Ramsbottom, The Oaks Hotel in Burnley, The Higher Trapp Country House Hotel also near Burnley and The Everglades Park Hotel in Widnes. All the hotels are operated under the Best Western brand.
