Rosebud funding brings cable guys into West Lancs

A NEW company is being et to bring traditional manufacturing jobs to West Lancashire after gaining funding from the Rosebud business finance scheme.

Skelmersdale-based Synergy Cables has received an undisclosed amount of funding to help it set up an electric wire manufacturing base in the town.

The new business will be based on the East Gillibrand Industrial Estate in the town. It will initially create two new manufacturing jobs, with a further three new jobs expected in the second year.

Tim Hindley, from Synergy Cables, said: “Synergy Cables Ltd will bring back a tradition of electric cable manufacture to the Skelmersdale area which until recently has had a history of cable making employing hundreds of people.

“West Lancashire and Merseyside has had a strong tradition of cable manufacturing over the years and Synergy Cables Ltd will build on this and employ people in the area that have the core skills needed to achieve a top quality product for today’s demanding markets.

Funding for Rosebud is provided by Lancashire County Developments Ltd – Lancashire County Council’s economic development company. It provides sums of between £2,000 and £1m on commercial terms to existing Lancashire businesses looking to create more jobs or to businesses willing to relocate to the area.

County councillor Terry Aldridge, who represents Skelmersdale Central, said: “I’m very pleased that we can develop traditional manufacturing in the area, with support and funding from the county council’s own Rosebud finance scheme.

“We wish Synergy all the best for their future development and success as they develop their business in the town.”
