Oldham fostering business sold

INDEPENDENT fostering agency Alpha Plus Fostering, based in Oldham, has been sold to the National Fostering Agency for an undisclosed sum.

Alpha Plus Fostering, established in May 2000, places children with foster carers on behalf of local authorities in the North West. 

Directors Mary Groarke and Chris Jackson have sold the business to NFAP Limited, part of the National Fostering Agency, which was backed by private equity firm Sovereign Capital.

Both Ms Groarke and Mr Jackson will stay on as consultants for six months to help hand over of the business to the NFA, which also work with local authorities throughout the UK to place children with foster carers.

Manchester law firm JMW LLP advised Ms Groarke and Mr Jackson on the disposal, while NFAP Limited was advised by London law firm, CMS Cameron McKenna.
