Yorkshire Bank business lending on the rise

YORKSHIRE Bank has increased its lending to businesses across the North West by 12%, its latest half year results show.
Within the region, this figure breaks down further to key cities in the region with Preston seeing the largest increase in lending at 19%, followed by Manchester (14%), Bolton (13%) and Liverpool with an 8% increase.
The North West increase is, however, slightly below the UK-wide increase, which stands at 14% for the half year to the end of March 2009, representing £1.2bn of new money.
Brian Colquhoun, regional director for Yorkshire Bank in the North West, said: “We are committed to supporting businesses in the towns and cities in which we operate and our clients tell us they like the fact that the money they bank with us goes back into supporting their local economy.
“As a strong bank, our focus has always been on the traditional banking values that have served us well. As well as standing by our current clients, we have a strong appetite for helping well-run businesses grow and succeed. We are committed to further developing our support for new businesses in the North West over the coming year.”
Yorkshire Bank added that its business banking network, which has seven bases in the North West, has expanded its customer base across the UK by 5% in the period.
