Business Link NW boss to leave

THE boss of Business Link North West is to leave the organisation at the end of this month.

Peter Watson, who has led the Preston-based business advice and support provider for the last four years, is looking for a new challenge in the private sector.

The regional Business Networks were launched in early 2007, and is set to be replaced in the New Year by a national call-centre based advisory service.

In September the North West service said it was shedding more than half of its staff – 194 out of 338 posts due to funding cuts.

Mr Watson said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Business Link North West and am pleased that the excellent services we provide are recognised by our customers and key partners in the region.

“However, as Business Link enters its next phase, I feel it is appropriate for me to pursue other opportunities in the private sector and will leave at the end of the year.”

Vanda Murray, chair of Business Link North West said operations director Donna Edwards would take over from Mr Watson from January 1.

Mrs Murray said: “‘Looking to the future there is still much work to be done in delivering support to North West businesses, as well as the transition to whatever the future business support landscape might be and the changes this will involve.”
