Eco firm plots rapid growth

CARLISLE-based supplier of renewable energy equipment, EcoLogicLiving, plans to double turnover to £1m in the coming year.

The family-owned business has doubled staff numbers to 14 in the past 12 months and moved to new, 4,000 sq ft offices. It is now planning to open satellite offices around the UK.

The company carries out assessments and feasibility studies at homes and businesses and supplies and installs equipment such as heat pumps, biomass boilers, solar thermal panels and wind turbines.

It has just taken a £50,000 loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial to help fund future growth and a £50,000 overdraft.

Judy Pearson, who set up the business with her husband Islam, said: “After owning a property development company for several years, we realised there was a gap in the market for a one-stop-shop business with a focus on customer service as people become more environmentally aware, and as Government incentives have made renewable energy financially attractive.

“Becoming environmentally friendly is a critical issue for businesses, particularly as new legislation means many could begin to fall foul of the law unless they tighten up their processes and energy usage.”
