Lettings latest: Tenants move into Margolis; Clinic takes space at Victoria

KNIGHT Frank has secured new lettings at the Margolis Buildings in the Northern Quarter in Manchester on behalf of developer Brookfinch.

The Grade A office scheme on the corner of Turner Street and Kelvin Street is a mix of new build and converted weavers’ cottages.

Hairdressing salon Twilight has taken the last of the three cottages while ET Travel has taken 1,318 sq ft of space on the second floor in the main building. Both firms have taken five-year leases.

Global manufacturer and distributor of refrigeration units, ELSTAT Electronics, which is based in Preston, has signing up to 1,151 sq ft on the third floor on a three year lease. Internet service provider, 34SP has relocated from City Tower to buy the 1,371 sq ft unit on the fourth floor on a long leasehold basis.

Brookfinch director Garry Finch said: “When developing the Margolis Buildings, we identified a gap in the market to provide young and established small companies the opportunity to acquire their own office – something which previously was not available. The deal to 34SP is a great example of a small company that ordinarily would not have the opportunity to own city centre space.”

DTZ has completed the letting of Stanlo House on Granby Way in Manchester to educational development company World Academy of Sport on behalf of Frontis Homes.

The 1,650 sq ft office space has been let on a five-year term and will act as the World Academy of Sport head office.

The organisation provides educational programmes to international sporting federations, as well as working in partnership with organisations in Manchester.

James Raspin, surveyor at DTZ Manchester, said: “The proximity of Stanlo House to the University of Manchester was an important factor that attracted World Academy of Sport, which has relocated from the University of Manchester campus. Manchester’s reputation as a leading sporting city means that it continues to be an attractive destination for a wide-range of organisations involved in sports activities.”
