Appointments: Speedy Hire appoints new chair & more

NORTH West equipment and tool rental giant Speed Hire has appointed Ishbel Macpherson as its new non-executive chairman.
Ms Macpherson, who replaces David Wallis who stood down at the end of last year, was previously the Newton-le-Willows company’s senior independent director and chair of the remuneration committee.
A former investment banker, latterly with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Ms Macpherson joined Speedy’s board in July 2007 and holds a number of directorships with major businesses including GAME Group, May Gurney Intergrated Services, Hydrogen Group and Dignity.

LANCASHIRE PR firm The Write Angle has appointed Natasha Robson as account executive.
Natasha, who has rececently finished a Masters dregree in Marketing and Communications, has been freelancing at the Chorley firm for the last two months.
A former journalist she has more than three years’ experience working as a senior reporter and features writer in newspapers and magazines across Sefton and West Lancashire.
Angela Smith, MD of the Write Angle said: “Natasha’s wealth of experience in journalism means she brings with her excellent writing and interviewing skills, as well as valuable knowledge of the local media. We are sure she will be a valuable addition to our growing team.”

MANCHESTER law firm Russell Jones & Walker (RJW) has made two appointments in its private client trust and estates division.
Richard Phillips and Ciara Hannawin have been tasked with re-designing the wills, wealth planning, trusts, estate administration and court of protection services. They have both joined from Bury-based Clough & Willis.
Phillips, 37, joins as head of the trust and estates division while Hannawin, 28, has experience in wills and estate administration.
Amanda McAlister, national head of family law with RJW and a member of the firm’s management team, said: “This recruitment continues our strategic growth plans, both for Manchester and the firm nationally. The private client team has expanded considerably and I am confident it will continue to grow as demand for our services increases.”
RJW has more than 440 staff across offices in England, Wales and Scotland.
