Appointments: New partners for Irwin Mitchell and Pannone; and more…

LAW firm Irwin Mitchell has boosted its provision of legal services to businesses across the North West with the appointment of Ed Cotton as employment partner.
Mr Cotton, who joins the firm from Halliwells, has established a reputation for advising clients in all areas of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, and for advising a range of SME clients across various sectors, including property, finance, logistics, retail and leisure.
He said: “The current economic situation has impacted severely on the jobs market as shown by recent government figures. It is a difficult time for clients. Companies are increasingly looking for practical advice on business restructuring and redundancies..”

LAW firm Pannone has strengthened its construction and projects team with the appointment of partner Simon Foy.
Mr Foy joins Pannone from Australian waste processing company Global Renewables where he was general counsel. Before that he worked at Simmons & Simmons and DLA Piper where he advised on many infrastructure, energy and PFI projects.
Mr Foy was also the European legal director at US power company Edison Mission Energy prior to relocating to Manchester from London in 2002.
Sean McCay, head of construction at Pannone,said: “Simon is an experienced commercial and projects lawyer and has extensive experience in the energy and waste industries and of PFI projects.
He will complement our general projects capability with a particular focus on the waste and renewable energy sectors, areas where we see excellent potential for growth.”

Neil Raw has been appointed general manager of the new Park Inn Manchester, Victoria.
Mr Raw has over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry and joined the company in 2007 when the Langs Hotel in Glasgow, where he was deputy general manager, was taken over by The Rezidor Hotel Group and re-branded Park Inn Glasgow.
In his new role, he will have the initial responsibility of recruiting a 100-strong workforce before the opening of the four star hotel in June.
Mr Raw, said: “It’s an exciting opportunity – in the current climate it’s great to be actively recruiting and I’m looking forward to building a great team and establishing Park Inn as one of the key players in the Manchester hotel scene.”
