Last orders for RICS awards

THE Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has said that firms looking to take part in its annual awards scheme have just over a week to submit their entries.
The organisation is looking for projects in eight categories – Building Conservation, Regeneration, Sustainability, Community Benefit, Commercial, Design and Innovation, Residential, Tourism and Leisure. Entries must be received by January 21.
The top award last year went to Blencow Hall in Penrith. Other projects recognised in 2010 were the Covered Market Hall in Stockport, Chadderton Wellbeing Centre in Oldham, the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Chester and the Gorton Educational Village in Manchester.
Andrew Kellaway, head of RICS’ North West Awards judging panel, said: “The awards really do elevate the profile of the projects which win or are short-listed, not to mention the reputation of the people, organisations and companies involved.”
Judging will take place across the next few months, and the winners will be announced at a dinner at Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, on May 12.
