A MACCLESFIELD-based company which specialises in grounds maintenance equipment for natural and artificial sports pitches has ben sold to a competitor for an undisclosed sum.

A MACCLESFIELD-based company which specialises in grounds maintenance equipment for natural and artificial sports pitches has been sold to a competitor for an undisclosed sum.

Sisis, a family-owned company which was founded in 1932 and was run by  the grandsons of the founder, has been bought by Derbyshire-based agricultural machinery specialist Dennis at Howardson Ltd.

Sisis’s most recent set of accounts for the 2009 calendar year show that the firm declared a pre-tax loss of £310,000 on sales of £3m.

Ian Howard, managing director of Dennis at Howardson, said: “We have acquired the respected brand, designs, patents and intellectual property and this new partnership is part of our ongoing investment strategy.

“We will now be conducting an immediate review of all aspects of the business, including customer service and supply.”
