Appointments: Baker Tilly’s Oates takes ICA role; and more…

THE North West head of IT advisory services at Baker Tilly, John Oates, has been elected chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales’ IT faculty.
The faculty is responsible for providing guidance to members on a range of IT-related issues including business strategies, e-business, the acquisition of suitable IT equipment and software, internet security and the latest developments in network technologies.
In his new role as chairman, Mr Oates will be responsible for formulating the faculty’s policy and work programmes.
John Oates, said: “I have been an active member of the faculty for many years, and have found its support invaluable in my IT advisory role. I am delighted at being asked to chair the faculty.
One of the aspects I intend to concentrate on is in ensuring the faculty delivers its support and advice in this region and throughout England and Wales.”

LIVERPOOL-based EAD Solicitors LLP has appointed Jennifer Lowe to its clinical negligence department.
Ms Lowe qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and joins the firm from Walker Smith Way in Wrexham.
Ms Lowe, said: “I am thrilled to be joining EAD as it serves such a wide range of clients and helps individuals with a broad variety of injuries and issues.”
Helen Barry, head of the clinical negligence team, said: “We are delighted to have Jennifer joining the team and are sure that her appointment will only continue to drive forward the department.”

ANNE Taylor has been officially appointed as head of SG Hambros Bank’s new Manchester office in Spinningfields.
The bank, part of SG Private Banking, will provide wealth management services to high net worth individuals in Manchester and the North West.
Prior to joining SG Hambros, Ms Taylor was the head of Manchester private wealth management for Kleinwort Benson and before that was assistant director for private banking at Singer & Friedlander.
Hambros said the new office demonstrates its intention to secure a more visible regional presence and is the next step in its regional expansion plans following the opening of a new office in Yorkshire in March.

The co-founder of LOVE Creative Alistair Sim is to join the board of design and branding agency, The Chase.
Mr Sim will have the remit to exploit the opportunities digital provides and in addition will have active new business and corporate development roles.
He will take up his new role at the beginning of June.
Ben Casey, co-founder and creative director of The Chase, said: “Alistair’s experience, particularly in the digital arena, will provide a valuable stimulus to The Chase.
