Appointments: Compton in as WH Ireland CEO: Yorkshire’s Cunning hire & more

PAUL Compton, 47, has joined stockbroker WH Ireland as chief executive.

Mr Compton, who has 25 years’ experience in the small/mid cap sector joins Manchester-based reland from London hedge fund Toscafund Asset Management.

He spent five years to 2007 as head of capital markets at Collins Stewart, where he was responsible for building the division into the leading broker in the small/mid cap field.

WH Ireland chairman Rupert Lowe said: “Paul brings with him a wealth of experience in equity markets and a strong track record in driving revenue growth.

“I am confident that his knowledge and skill will support WH Ireland and we look forward to building on the progress made over the recent past.”

YORKSHIRE Bank Corporate & Structured Finance has appointed Graham Cunning to the new role of national director for acquisition finance.

Mr Cunning, who was previously regional director for Corporate & Structured Finance in Scotland, will now take on a strategic role to further develop the bank’s acquisition finance business throughout the UK.

His work will include co-ordinating the bank’s acquisition finance teams in London and the South, Yorkshire, the North West, the Midlands and Scotland, strengthening relationships with private equity houses and advisors, and developing new business opportunities.

FORBES Solicitors has made a double appointment in its Chorley office.

Crime specialists Natalie Darwen and Craig MacKenzie, from Preston, have join the team as solicitors.
