80 jobs will go with Mobilis Oldham closure

SPORTS and mobility products company Mobilis Healhcare is to close its Oldham site, which employs 120 staff, and relocate operations to its Nottinghamshire head office.

It’s  Halo Healthcare bespoke orthotics business; a rehabilitation equipment service centre; and a base for the van sales fleet that supplies sports clubs will remain.

But around 80 staff are likely to be affected by the decision, which follows the acquisition of Mobilis by Homecraft Rolyan earlier this year.

The enlarged company, which has been renamed Patterson Medical, is creating up to 50 positions at its Sutton-in-Ashfield headquarters and is encouraging existing Mobilis employees to relocate the East Midlands.

Colin Webb, the former chief executive of Mobilis Healthcare, now managing director of Patterson Medical, said: “It was a difficult decision to close the Oldham site, but commercial logics dictated that the consolidated business would benefit from shared service administration and warehousing and the more modern Huthwaite premises offer much greater scope for integration and future expansion.”
