Appointments: Gray appointed to deputy head at HSBC; and more…

HSBC bank has appointed Stuart Gray as deputy head of Corporate Banking at its North West corporate banking centre in Manchester.

Mr Gray brings 34 years of experience with the company to the position, including commercial and corporate banking and leveraged finance.

He spent his first 20 years with HSBC working with business customers. In1995 he moved to head up Sheffield’s corporate banking team, before moving two years later to Manchester to run the region’s Trade Services division.

He was appointed to set up HSBC’s first leveraged finance operation in the North of England and spent subsequent eight years leading this team.

Stuart Gray, HSBC deputy head of corporate banking, North West, said: “I am looking forward to what will be a challenging role, underpinned by the opportunity to work directly with a host of major international corporate businesses across a diverse sector portfolio, whilst building on my existing relationships within the North West’s professional and Private Equity communities.”

Alan Rigby, HSBC head of corporate banking, North West, said: “I am delighted that Stuart will be working with me to drive our development through the remainder of 2009.

In particular Stuart will be focused on working with our new global relationship managers to explore and unlock the potential for international growth amongst our existing and target customer base.”

Mr Gray takes on the role from Julia Godino, who moves to a London-based position within HSBC’s credit and risk team.

SALFORD-based network provider Netservices has appointed Paul Williams to its board as operations director.

Mr Williams joined NetServices in 2008 as operations manager and has15 years experience in project management, managed services delivery and off-shoring with blue chip organizations, including Barclays plc, Aviva plc and RAC plc.

Mark Vickers, chief executive at NetServices, said: “Paul’s appointment to the Board is a reflection of the contribution he has made to NetServices over the past 18 months. Paul will further strengthen NetServices’ management team as we capitalise on our recent Cisco Powered accreditation and strive to gain further recognition for our managed services capability.”

NORTH WEST law firm Birchall Blackburn has appointed Fiona Dillon as a partner.

Ms Dillon joins from JMW Solicitors and has over 14 years experience in private client matters.

She will provide advice on inheritance tax planning, wills, trusts, probate and estate administration, foreign property tax, Indian wills, charity law, business and agricultural property relief, lasting powers of attorney, court of protection, contentious probate and domicile issues.

Ms Dillon will primarily be based in the Manchester office but also work and travel regularly across all the offices in the region.

Ms Dillon, said: “I am delighted to join such a well established team which has the breadth of experience to look after high net worth individuals, elderly clients, entrepreneurs, sports professionals/entertainers and the medical profession.”

Birchall Blackburn has offices in Preston, Manchester, Southport, Formby, Penwortham, Chorley and Morecambe, and employs 200 staff.

DIGITAL agency Fudge has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Andrew Thomas to the position of non-executive director.

Mr Thomas has over 20 years experience in the industry having spent the majority of his marketing career with McCann-Erickson in London and Manchester .

He founded McCann-i in Manchester in 1999 and ran the operation until 2004 when he left to join Pavilion Communications as managing director. Most recently, Mr Thomas was an executive director at direct marketing business, Bounty.
