Free advice from lender

LENDER Barclays is holding a free event this week focused on helping customers weather the recession.

The ‘Connect” event in Manchester will provide expert advice and guidance on how companies can adapt, survive and possibly thrive despite the tough economic times.

Staged at Old Trafford, Connect  will provide a forum for participants to network with businesses from across numerous industries and market their products or services at no cost via a trade fair hosted on the premises.

The ‘Connect’ event is part of a new initiative called Turning The Corner, launched by Barclays Commercial Bank to assist its 81,000 business clients in battling recession.

Michael Hartig, head of Manchester, Barclays Commercial Bank, commented, “Turning the Corner is a natural step towards improving the way the bank supports businesses, particularly when combined with increased business lending and support of Government initiatives such as the Enterprise Finance Guarantee (EFG).

“We are acutely aware of our responsibilities in the current environment and we remain committed to creating and maintaining a platform for our clients to succeed.

“Of course this means continuing to lend, which we are well placed to do as we remain well capitalised with a strong balance sheet.  We are also working closely with the Government to support initiatives such as the EFG.”

Business expert and management consultant René Carayol will deliver the keynote speech.

He  said: “The UK business community needs more forums of this nature, which bring together local businesses and provide practical management advice to their owners.

“As companies are facing unprecedented challenges, it’s good to know that they have options to learn from experts and peers at no cost.”
