Travelodge kicks off phase two of £50m Ordsall scheme

CONSTRUCTION work has begun on a new Travelodge in Ordsall which forms part of Manchester-based developer LPC Living’s £50m mixed-use Radclyffe Park scheme at Ordsall in Salford.

The hotel is being built for the budget operator by Anglo Holt and is the 53rd project it has completed for Travelodge.

Work on the 156-bed Travelodge hotel marks the second phase of development at Radclyffe Park, which is based on Trafford Road.

The first phase, which includes a Morrisons supermarket, 12 new retail units, 79 new homes and a 357-space car park, was started in October by Trafford-based Russells Construction.

The hotel has been designed by Liverpool architects Falconer Chester Hall and should complete by the autumn.

Simon Ashdown, development director at LPC Living, said: “Anglo Holt has a proven track record of delivering projects for Travelodge on time and to budget so they were a natural choice for us.

“With the supermarket frame now completed and work starting on the seven-storey hotel, Radclyffe Park is shaping up to become one of the most prominent schemes in the Quays area. This is particularly exciting for local residents and businesses who will be able to benefit from having improved amenities, services and facilities on their doorstep.”

The scheme is part of a wider £150m transformation of the Ordsall area by LPC Living and Salford City Council.
