Administrators called in at Beetham’s hotel firms

ADMINISTRATORS have been appointed to two companies that operate the hotels at the Beetham Organization’s Beetham Tower buildings in Manchester and Liverpool.

Ian Corfield, Brian Green and Jane Moriarty of KPMG have been appointed as joint administrators to Beetham Hotels Liverpool Ltd and Beetham Hotels Manchester Ltd.

The Manchester company operates a Hilton hotel under a management contract and employs 340 people, whereas the Liverpool business operates a Radisson hotel employing 80 staff.

Both hotels are continuing to trade as normal, however, and no redundancies have been made.

The administrations follow the appointment of Les Ross Grant Thornton of administators at Beetham West Tower Ltd – the second tower built by the Beetham Organization in its home city – last week. However, the Beetham Organization itself is not in administration – nor are the companies that own the buildings in which the hotels are based.

Brian Green, head of restructuring for KPMG in the North West, said: “We would like to reassure customers that it is business as usual at both hotels: existing bookings are secure and we continue to take bookings.

“Both hotels are popular and well-known for both business and leisure travel, operating out of iconic buildings in Liverpool and Manchester.

“We are confident of securing a sale in the near future. Both Hilton Worldwide and Radisson are continuing to manage the day to day operations at the hotels, with our support.”
