NW hearing aid retailer rescued
A TROUBLED North West hearing aid company has been rescued from administration.
Southport-based Hearsavers, which operated 57 hearing aid pods in Matalan stores, has been bought by Cardiff-based DHAIS for £100,000.
Hearsavers, which has 13 staff , achieved turnover of £1.5m in the year to March 31 but posted losses of £500,000.
Plus-listed DHAIS believes that it can bring the business to profitability by implementing a restructuring programme.
Steve Wilkinson and Mark Harwood, the two directors of Hearsavers, have been appointed directors of DHAIS subsidiary Hearing Health and Mobility and both have taken shares in the business.
Mr Wilkinson will own 4.3% and Mr Harwood will own 2.4% of DHAIS.
Mark Moss, DHAIS chairman, commented: “We are delighted to have completed this fourth acquisition, which significantly enlarges our
retail health business and adds another facet to our operations.
“Having these additional hearing aid testing and dispensing facilities in such accessible outlets will be of great benefit to those concerned with hearing loss or their current hearing aids.”
