Appointments: Board changes at Shieldtech; Stephensons Solicitors boosts appeals team; and more….

ADRIAN Bradshaw has resigned as non-executive director of AIM-listed Warrington-based Shieldtech, the body armour manufacturer.

He is replaced by former corporate financier Pommy Sarwal.

Tim Wightman, chairman at Shieldtech, said: “We would like to thank Adrian for all his hard work. He was fundamental in the acquisition of Aegis Engineering Limited and the introduction of Shieldtech to AIM in 2007.”

NORTH West law firm Stephensons Solicitors has appointed associate Correna Platt to its appeals team.

Ms Platt, head of the firm’s Crown Court team, will now divide her time between court work and appeals.

In addition, she will work alongside Campbell Malone, a criminal appeals partner at the firm.

Ms Platt has practised criminal law for 12 years and has run several court cases, including a national drug enquiry and an international conspiracy to defraud banking institutions. She has also defended in cases of murder, manslaughter, death by dangerous driving, robberies and sexual offences.

Martin Jones, managing partner of Stephensons’ criminal law department, said: “Correna’s move to support Campbell’s work in this area will develop and strengthen the firm’s offering of legal services from interview at the police station to trial and beyond if necessary.”

DIGITAL agency theEword has boosted its marketing department with the appointment of two team members.

Holly O’ Boyle and Mike Higham join the Manchester-based company as digital Holly O Boylemarketing assistants.

Ms O’Boyle recently completed a BA in International Business at Manchester Metropolitan University.

In addition, she earned a top 20 placing in the final of the Manchester Masters competition, which was aimed at retaining graduate talent in the region.

Ms O’ Boyle, said: “I’m happy to be joining such an ambitious company. I think theEword is the perfect place to start my career and I’m confident that their support and expertise will add to my experiences of marketing so far.

Mike Higham, who studied Marketing Management also at MMU, has previous experience working for PR firm Golley Slater and Unipart Rail.

SARAH Williams, business manager for Inward Investment at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), has been selected by the British Council as a climate advocate, part of its Challenge Europe initiative.

Challenge Europe for Low Carbon Futures, which is co-ordinated by the British Council, aims to find the best way to make a lasting impact on the climate change debate, and accelerate change towards a sustainable, low carbon future.

Ms Williams will work with teams from 14 European countries and will be responsible for finding new ways to reduce carbon emissions or utilise methods already available but not yet fully developed.

Mark Hughes, executive director of economic development at the NWDA said:“The agency is delighted that Sarah has been selected as one of only 13 English representatives.

The NWDA recognises that climate change is one of the most significant challenges facing the world today, which is why we are committed towards delivering the Northwest Climate Change Action Plan.”

LANCASHIRE-based payment services company, Zeva, has appointed Matthew Matthew PatridgePartridge as business development manager.

Mr Partridge joins the company from the Sellick Partnership in Chester, where he held the position of senior consultant.
