Scent of success for Colony

NORTH West fragranced candle manufacturer Colony Gift Corporation has won an award from retailer Waitrose.

The Cumbrian company received the honour for Best Product Innovation for its Royal Horticultural Society Collection at the 2009 Waitrose Supplier Awards.

The RHS range, which features botanical illustrations from the organisation’s Lindley library, has been a top seller in the category since it was launched in the spring of 2008.

Colony, based in Lindal-in-Furness, near Ulverston, is the UK’s largest home fragrance candle manufacturer and was the only non-food product winner at the awards.

Sales director Richard Wood said: “It is a fantastic achievement to be recognised for our product innovation and highlights the hard work by the Colony team in such a challenging market.

“The RHS collection is a beautiful range, which we are developing further for 2010. It has proven to be very popular with our customers, something we hope to continue going forward as we grow the brand.”
