Endless’ Ley talks profit at business forum

MANCHESTER business leaders Warwick Ley and Chris Bywater will give their views on retaining profit through cost management at a breakfast forum in the city next week.
The ‘Is Your Business Costing You?’ breakfast forum follows a specially commissioned YouGov study, which showed that 43% businesses in the North West had not instigated any cost reduction programmes during the last six months, despite 58% thinking savings could be achieved.
The study also showed that 44% had not conducted any contract renegotiations with suppliers since September 2008 when the steep decline in the economy started. Only 20% had gained an extension in credit terms; and just 10% had managed to change payment terms from advance to arrears.
Chris Bywater, managing director of packaging manufacturer Nuttall Packaging, and Warwick Ley of private equity house Endless, will talk about the benefits of effective cost management in a recession, from their respective viewpoints.
The event will be held at the Institute of Directors hub in St Peter’s Square, Manchester, on Wednesday July 1, between 7.45am and 9.30am.
It is organised by cost management consultancy Expense Reduction Analysts, and co-hosted by the IoD, The Daily Telegraph Business Club and TheBusinessDesk.com. For more information on the event please visit www.erauk.net or contact 02380 829 737.
