£5m investment in spa hotel at Ribby Hall

ENTREPRENEUR Paul Harrison is investing £5m in a new 42-bedroom boutique hotel and spa at Ribby Hall Village in Lancashire.

The Spa Hotel will open in July, creating 70 jobs and complement the existing and extensive family-friendly facilities at Ribby Hall Village.

It is being designed by Malcolm King – who has worked on a number of major hotels including The Plaza in New York, the Westin Raffles City in Singapore, the Royal Yacht, Hotel and Spa in Jersey, Mango Bay Hotel in Barbados, The Regency InterContinental in Bahrain and the MGM Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.

The new spa is being funded through a mixture of funding from Royal Bank of Scotland and existing group resources.

Mr Harrison, managing director and owner of Ribby Hall Village, said: “We have created The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village in response to consumer demand for a new North West luxury spa destination.”

“This will be a valuable addition to Lancashire’s leisure tourism offering, while providing local people who are keen to invest in their personal well-being, a high-end yet affordable day spa facility where they can be assured of superlative customer service.”

He said the development is an ‘integral element’ of his vision for Ribby Hall Village, which he wants to be the country’s best independent short break, spa and business tourism destination.

The adults-only Spa Hotel will offer a range of treatments and therapies. It will have 14 treatments rooms, brasserie and bar, gym.

Ribby Hall Village opened 16 years ago and comprises 175 cottages, six pine lodges and two private properties for larger groups. It is a popular conference venue too, welcoming more than 25,000 delegates a year.
