Appointments: Board changes at Impact; Manchester Central gets marketing chief; Stripes expands and more

NORTH West lender Impact Holdings has appointed Roger Barlow, 55, the chairman of the Marsden Building Society, as a non-executive director.
Mr Barlow is a former audit partner at KPMG. Richard Kilsby, chairman, said: “Roger brings a wealth of experience and will assist in growing the business as we move forward, creating value for shareholders and delivering the group’s strategy.”
Manchester-based Impact said David Hughes, currently a non-executive, would move to an executive role as legal director.

CONFERENCE and exhibition centre, Manchester Central, has appointed a new head of marketing.
Sharon Leeson joins the former GMEX centre to plan and develop the venue’s regional, national and international marketing strategy.
Ms Leeson joins the venue from Chester Zoo, where she was head of marketing and development for three years.
She has experience in the tourist industry, having also held roles at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and a director of Cheshire and Warrington Tourist Board.
She will be responsible for building awareness of Manchester Central in the region and highlighting the venues facilities.

MANCHESTER law firm, Stripes, has welcomed a senior lawyer to its corporate and commercial team.
Tony Winterburn joins the firm as a consultant from JMW Solicitors where he was head of commercial litigation.
Prior to joining JMW, Mr Winterburn was a partner at law firm DLA Piper for 20 years.
He is experienced in injuctions, freezing, search orders and disputes arising from insolvency situations.

SOLLERTIA, the Warrington-based accountancy outsourcing specialists, has appointed a new sales and marketing manager.
Andy Armitage joins the company to oversee the launch of its new franchise scheme across the UK.
Mr Armitage has previously held a number of senior marketing roles across the North-West before joining Sollertia.
Mr Armitage said: “My career has been sales and marketing focussed which is why Sollertia felt I was the right man to roll out our new franchising concept.”

THE City of Manchester Stadium, home of Manchester City Football Club, has strengthened its events team with a new catering and operations manager.
Neil Worcester joins the stadium to oversee its catering and front of house operations across the stadium’s 70 executive boxes, six luxury suites and 1,000 grande marquee.

BURY-BASED machinery company, Reel & Shaft Handling, have boosted its operations team with the appointment of a new manager.
Tamara Skillin joins Reel & Shaft as operations manager, from Imperial Consultants where she had worked for more than 20 years as operations manager.
Reel and Shaft’s managing director, Stephen Weston, said, “Tamara is already enhancing the day to day running of the company. I am confident she will be a great asset in growing the company.”
