Neptune launches phase two of £45m New Brighton scheme

NEPTUNE Developments has launched the second phase of its New Brighton regeneration scheme by unveiling new branding for the £45 million development.

The scheme, which contains a Morrisons foodstore, a six-screen multiplex cinema, a 66-room Travelodge hotel and a health & fitness centre,  will be known as Marine Point.

It will also have 18,500 sq ft of retail space available next to the foodstore and 685 free surface car parking spaces. Planning permission has been secured for  non-food uses for the retail units.

A large pedestrian street separates this area from a crescent shaped building overlooking the recently-restored Marine Lake. At the western end of Marine Point there will also be an open-air swimming pool and spa, and a two-storey water sports training facility with a pontoon built into the Marine Lake.

Neptune Developments said that Marine Point builds on New Brighton’s heritage. In its heyday, the town was one of the major tourist resorts in the north of England with a tower taller than Blackpool’s and the largest open-air swimming pool in Europe.

Neptune Developments’ managing director, Steve Parry, said: “Following the great success of the first phase of the scheme, comprising the new Floral Pavilion theatre and Conference Centre, we are delighted to be launching this campaign and unveiling the new branding for the scheme.

“We see Marine Point as a new destination, building on New Brighton’s established character and strong locational appeal.

“New Brighton has great connectivity and a unique sense of place, and now it also boasts the breadth of attractions and activities that will draw visitors from all parts of Merseyside, Cheshire and the wider North West.

“New Brighton’s appeal and attractiveness to visitors has endured even as some of its traditional attractions have declined and disappeared. That is why we have such enormous confidence in the Marine Point project.”
