Intertek to build centre of excellence in Manchester

Scientific testing and analysis company Intertek is to set up a  a European Analytical Testing Centre of Excellence in Manchester.

The firm’s North West Technology Centre at Bebington and the Analytical Sciences Group laboratory in Manchester will merge to form one centre at the Hexagon Tower in Blackley, which it acquired from Avecia in 2004.

The centre will provide services from routine analysis to advanced characterisation and chemical problem solving. It will also support developers and manufacturers working in fields including the pharmaceutical, personal care, medical device, specialty chemical and fine chemical sectors.

Phil Norman, VP at Intertek Analytical Services, said: “By housing our expertise under one roof we will continue to develop and expand the knowledge and advanced problem-solving skills that our people bring to our clients.”
