Colloids buys factory with £1m loan

MERSEYSIDE-based speciality compounds business Colloids is buying its premises in Knowsley after securing backing from Barclays.

Barclays Corporate has provided a £1m commercial mortgage to the business which produces masterbatches – pellets containing pigments that are used to create the final colour of plastic products.

The company supplies the automotive and engineering sectors as well as retailers and wholesalers. Since 2004 it has been part of the Israel-based group Tosaf.

Finance director Jim Ashelby said: “Our business has delivered significant growth in revenue and profit over recent years on the back of strong organic growth and selective acquisitions.

“We have been very impressed with the holistic approach from Barclays, their appetite to do business in the current financial climate, and by the professional manner in which the Barclays Corporate team delivered the deal.”

The finance was arranged by Steve Berry, a relationship director at Barclays Corporate in Manchester.
