£5m business park for Garstang

A £5m business park on the site of a former chicken factory in Garstang has been given outline planning consent.
Cobre Developments in Lancashire, has won outline planning permission from Wyre Council to redevelop a three acre brownfield site on Green Lane West on the outskirts of Garstang into a business park. It was the site of a former chicken processing factory that has been left derelict for a considerable time.
The Cobre Business Park will have offices ranging in size from 1,000 sq ft to 27,000 sq ft in the first phase of the scheme, available on a design or build basis, to let or for sale.
The business park, just six miles south of junction 32 of the M6, will be landscaped and include car parking for almost 100 vehicles.
Cobre Developments, the company behind the investment, is owned of two Longridge-born businessmen, Harry Coar and Frank Bretherton, who are also the founders of Preston-based residential development company Downtown Living Limited.
Mr Coar said: “There is nothing like this in the Garstang area and we believe the time is right for a rural business park that will help boost the local economy and create jobs.
“Cobre Business Park is in an excellent location, close to the A6 and the motorway network. We are creating
modern, stylish offices and work units tailored towards the needs of small, rural-based businesses.
“The plan we have put together also shows what can be done creatively with sites in the rural area. We have also had great support from Wyre Council, which recognises the need for a scheme like this and its potential for the local economy.”
The business park has been designed by architect firm Frank Whittle Partnership, while Preston-based Morgan Martin has been appointed selling agent for the business park.
