Appointments: Head of corporate banking at RBS; Promotions at Tenon; and more…

THE Royal Bank of Scotland has appointed Philip Mills as the new head of its Corporate Banking team in Liverpool.
Mr Mills has over 30 years banking experience and was previously head of the mid Corporate Banking team in Manchester. He has also headed the bank’s corporate operations in Yorkshire and the North East.
In his new role Mr Mills will lead a team that provides funding solutions to corporate businesses with a turnover of £25m and above across Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.
He replaces Barry Roberts, who is retiring from the RBS Group after 35 years service, and will be based at the bank’s corporate HQ in the Plaza.
Mr Mills said: “Merseyside is one of the most important areas in the UK for the RBS Group as we have a considerable customer base in the region. We are ready to lend to well managed businesses and our main priority is to ensure both new and existing customers have access to the necessary funding to support their business goals.”

ACCOUNTANCY firm Tenon has announced the promotion of one director and three associate directors across its North West business services, tax and recovery departments.
Anthony Steiner, 42, has been promoted to business services director. Mr Steiner joined the firm in 2003, having previously worked for KPMG in Preston.
In his new role as business services director, Mr Steiner will be responsible for further enhancing the business services and audit offering in the region.
In addition, Tenon has promoted Kevin Duffy, Richard Eastham and Katy Walker to associate directors.

YORKSHIRE Bank has strengthened its Financial Solutions Centre in Liverpool by appointing Mike Scott as a partner.
Mr Scott joined Yorkshire Bank in 1987 and over the last 22 years has worked across the North West, West Midlands and Gloucestershire.
In his new role Mr Scott, who is currently treasurer of Hawarden Park Cricket Club and on the finance committee of Hawarden Golf Club, will focus on trading businesses as well as specialising in haulage and manufacturing businesses with turnovers of up to £50 million.
He will continue to cover the Chester, Cheshire and North Wales areas, as well as Merseyside.

LAW firm Irwin Mitchell has appointed John Lord as a partner to its commercial litigation team.
Mr Lord,39, was previously at Halliwells in Manchester where he spent 13 years, joining as a solicitor, before progressing to associate and then partner in 1998.
