Knight doubtful on JJB comeback

FORMER JJB Sports chief executive Tom Knight said he would relish the opportunity to return to the business, but believes it is “unlikely to happen”
Mr Knight, who left the Wigan company in 2007 after former chairman Dave Whelan sold his 26% shareholding to Chris Ronnie – who then replaced him, said:
“I did have a meeting with Sir David last week, I think at the behest of some of the major shareholders.
“I think though that Sir David has his own man in mind for the job so I’m not expecting much to come of the meeting.
“It is a role I would like as I know the business well and what needs to be done there.”
JJB Sports appeared to confirm Mr Knight’s view. One company source said: “The board is on the lookout for quality people and Mr Knight did a good job in his previous stint.
“I don’t think it’s likely to go anywhere though – he is one of a number of people who have been approached.”
